Should i get a 243 remington with a scope and 4 round clip for coyote hunting or a m1 garand?

im only 13 and im in battle creek michigan and i want to coyote hunting with my dad and for my bday i want the 243 witch is 350$ my dad said we should save up so we can get a m1 garand (not for coyote hunting) i want to coyote hunting and he said hed like to but would rather get a garand ( a m1 garand is a ww2 american rifle witch costs 800$) should we get a m1 garand or should i save up so i can buy the 243 with my own money?
