Yes you're correct. Your friend, semi-literate as she is, does not understand the term 'taking it for granted'. She's trying to say that your teen years should be appreciated and therefore she MEANT 'do NOT take it for granted'. She has unfortunately misunderstood the entire concept along with her misunderstanding of spelling.
