Can you use urine to scare away small predators?

I have recently run into a bit of a coyote problem and do not have the resources needed to make a full on effort to prevent them from getting into my yard. so im wondering if it is at all possible to use urine from larger predators to scare away or at least highly discourage coyotes from coming too close to my yard. Does this method work or is it purely a myth? And if it does work does it have any drawbacks such as attracting something worse than coyotes? (please/thank you)
